Inside the guide
A stage-by-stage system, not vague advice
Every part gives you the real story behind it, the research that backs it up, and exactly what to do next. Not theory. A playbook.
If you made it here, that tells me you care. I want to give you these gifts for showing up for your child. 🏆
🚗 The Car Ride Cheat Sheet
Print it, put it in the glovebox. Research spanning thirty years found the ride home is the moment most kids remember worst from youth sports. This one-pager gives you the exact words to say, and the ones to never say, in those twenty minutes.
📅 The Age-by-Age Roadmap
Your five-year-old and your eleven-year-old need completely different things from you. This roadmap breaks down exactly what to expect and how to show up at every stage, from ages 3 to 12.
📓 The Game Day Journal
Two minutes after each game to reflect, not on your child's performance, but on yours. This is the tool that turns awareness into real change, week after week.

Before the Whistle — The Complete System
The complete system:
Hi, I'm Orlando
Athlete since age 6 · Youth sports coach · Creator of Before the Whistle
I'm an athlete and a coach, and just like you, I care deeply about giving kids the kind of childhood that shapes who they become.
I started playing sports at 6 years old, first baseball with my dad, then basketball. I know exactly what it feels like to walk into a first practice nervous, and I know exactly what it feels like to sit in the back seat after a hard loss, hoping your parents say the right thing.
Later in life, I became a coach myself. I ran clinics for kids and saw the same thing from the other side, the ones who showed up with joy, and the ones who showed up because their parents made them. That's when I understood how much a parent's role really shapes a child's entire experience in sports.
That's why I created Before the Whistle: a stage-by-stage system, backed by real research and by everything I've lived through, so you can raise a confident, disciplined kid who loves the game, and who feels closer to you because of it.
Before the Whistle was born from my own experience as an athlete and a coach, and today it's the guide I wish someone had handed my own parents. I hope it can walk beside your family too. 🏆
"I want to walk with you through that first step: helping your child fall in love with sports, guided with real experience, so you can feel confident, supported, and prepared."
Everything you need to change the life of your little one.
You just need the right words, the right framework, and the courage to show up differently starting this weekend.
